Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program

Nova Scotia Nominee Program

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is a provincial nominee program (PNP) that allows Nova Scotia to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Canada. The program is designed to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international graduates who have the skills and experience to contribute to the province’s economy.

There are currently seven streams under the NSNP:

  1. Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who have the skills and experience that are in high demand in Nova Scotia. Applicants must have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer or be able to demonstrate that they have the skills and experience to find employment in the province.
  2. Labour Market Priorities for Physicians Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who are physicians and who want to work in Nova Scotia. Applicants must have a job offer from a Nova Scotia hospital or healthcare organization.
  3. Entrepreneur Stream: This stream is open to international entrepreneurs who want to start or buy a business in Nova Scotia. Applicants must have a business plan and the financial resources to support the business.
  4. International Graduate Stream: This stream is open to international graduates from Nova Scotia post-secondary institutions who want to work or start a business in Nova Scotia. Applicants must have completed a post-secondary program in Nova Scotia that is at least two years in length.
  5. Skills for Business Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who have the skills and experience to fill a specific job vacancy in a Nova Scotia business. Applicants must have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer.
  6. Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who have at least one year of full-time paid work experience in Nova Scotia. Applicants must also have an active profile in the federal Express Entry system.

To be eligible for the NSNP

Applicants must meet certain criteria, such as having the required skills and experience, meeting language requirements, and having a valid work permit or study permit (if applicable). Applicants must also demonstrate that they have the financial resources to support themselves and their family in Canada.

If you are eligible for the NSNP

If your application is successful, you will receive a provincial nomination certificate. This certificate will give you an additional 600 points in the federal Express Entry system, which will almost guarantee that you will be invited to apply for permanent residence. The NSNP is a popular choice for immigrants who want to live and work in Nova Scotia. The province has a strong economy and a diverse population, and it offers a variety of opportunities for skilled workers and entrepreneurs.

Benefits of immigrating to Nova Scotia through the NSNP:

  • Faster processing times: Applications through the NSNP are typically processed more quickly than applications through the federal Express Entry system.
  • Higher chance of receiving a permanent residence visa: Applicants who receive a provincial nomination certificate from Nova Scotia are almost guaranteed to be invited to apply for permanent residence.
  • Access to provincial support programs: Nova Scotia offers a variety of support programs for immigrants, such as language training, job search assistance, and settlement services.
