Ontario Provincial Nominee Program
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a provincial nominee program (PNP) that allows Ontario to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Canada. The program is designed to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international graduates who have the skills and experience to contribute to the province’s economy.
There are currently 10 streams under the OINP:
- Express Entry Stream: This stream is open to candidates who have an active profile in the federal Express Entry system and who meet the eligibility requirements for the stream.
- Human Capital Priorities Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who have the skills and experience that are in high demand in Ontario. Applicants must have a job offer from an Ontario employer or be able to demonstrate that they have the skills and experience to find employment in the province.
- In-Demand Skills Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who have the skills and experience that are in high demand in specific sectors of the Ontario economy. Applicants must have a job offer from an Ontario employer in a designated sector or be able to demonstrate that they have the skills and experience to find employment in the sector.
- French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream: This stream is open to foreign nationals who are fluent in French and who have the skills and experience that are in demand in Ontario. To be eligible for the OINP
Applicants must meet certain criteria, such as having the required skills and experience, meeting language requirements, and having a valid work permit or study permit (if applicable). Applicants must also demonstrate that they have the financial resources to support themselves and their family in Canada.
If you are eligible for the OINP
If your application is successful, you will receive a provincial nomination certificate. This certificate will give you an additional 600 points in the federal Express Entry system, which will almost guarantee that you will be invited to apply for permanent residence. The OINP is a popular choice for immigrants who want to live and work in Ontario. The province has a strong economy and a diverse population, and it offers a variety of opportunities for skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
Here are some of the benefits of immigrating to Ontario through the OINP:
- Faster processing times: Applications through the OINP are typically processed more quickly than applications through the federal Express Entry system.
- Higher chance of receiving a permanent residence visa: Applicants who receive a provincial nomination certificate from Ontario are almost guaranteed to be invited to apply for permanent residence.
- Access to provincial support programs: Ontario offers a variety of support programs for immigrants, such as language training, job search assistance, and settlement services.
