Sponsor your parents and grandparents for Canada
The Canada Parents and Grandparents Program is a government-funded immigration initiative designed to enable Canadian citizens and residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residency in Canada, facilitating family reunification within the country. This program provides a pathway for Canadians to bring their close family members back together.
What do invited PGP sponsors need to submit after being invited?
- If you are invited to sponsor your parents or grandparents, two separate applications must be submitted:
- Your sponsorship and permanent residence applications should both be submitted online at the same time; further information can be found here on IRCC’s webpage.
Canada’s Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP)
Under Canada’s Family Class immigration category, Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parent(s) or grandparent(s) through the Parent and Grandparent Program, commonly referred to as PGP.
Sponsoring parents and grandparents allows them to become permanent residents of Canada with all its associated benefits – this includes being free to live and work anywhere within Canada without restriction on time, sector or location, accessing publicly-funded healthcare and services as well as becoming citizens at some point down the line.
Under Canada’s multi-year immigration plan, approximately 25,000 permanent residents will be admitted each year via the PGP.
